PILGRIM

Above two thousand meters from the sea level, the Mai Pokhari pond is a pilgrimage for the majority of Nepali people, mostly Hindus, and Buddhists. Mai Pokhari Tea Industry is named under this sacred pond. It is located in Ilaam district, Eastern Nepal. It has dense wild forests and is a habitat for many species, some rare like Rhododendron arboreum and Red Panda locally aka. Haabray.

Mai means “Goddess” and Pokhari means “Pond”. Thus, a Pond of God.

RED PANDA

Oolong!

Man Kumar Mukhiya specializes in Oolong. He is the owner of the Mai Pokhari Tea Industry and he, himself, is also the producer. The Chinese and Taiwanese were taken by surprise when they visited his Tea Processing Centre. It’s sublime!

Man Kumar wants to be a Tea Master, which he already is. His definition of a Tea Master is someone who knows their teas, knows their surroundings, and uses those knowledge to make his teas. He believes that his Oolongs are outstanding in the Nepali Tea Industry due to the extravagant climatic features of the Mai Pokhari region.
